Parc Lead mine info

Evening y'all. Just seen another post on the mine about loaded wages on a sub level having just read the same report on this.

Got a more straightforward question. Am close by to the mine on my Easter hols and fancy having a shufty. Got my wellies, torches and hard hat. No SRT though. Plus I will be solo. Is Level 2 OK for a solo, non-SRT visit if I stay on that level? Know there are false floors and holes to avoid (especially at the junction) . Any advice/tips etc gratefully received.

I know of at least one person who has done many solo trips into Parc on level 2. And he survived.

There's a lot to see on level 2, particularly if you make the climb up into Llanrwst mine.

I can't overemphasise the issue with false floors. The general rule is to stay close to the footwall.

Chris.

Even from the briefest taste of Parc I'd personally suggest if no SRT it may be helpful to at least have a caving belt and a cowstail so you can clip a safety line (e.g. at first Y junction). Oh and did Chris mention the false floors???

A harness or load bearing belt and cow tails would be useful for safety. There are some holes in the floor which have safety lines to clip into. The CAL sites has a guide (www.caveaccess.co.uk) and don't forget to register!

Mobile phone signals in the Gwydyr are poor to non-existent so you may have to drive to LLanrwst to cancel any callout you set.

Much great advice already given above I agree with everything everyone has sad , I would add if using any ladders keep your feet touching the wooden edges never in the middle . Beware of the false floors be on the footwall side of the track where ever possible . Use all the aids in places . Best of luck !

Didn't go to Parc in the end but thank you all for the advice. Much appreciated. Am sure it will come in handy when I do go.
