we did Sump 2 in about 30 minutes, and made our exit in about 40 minutes, although we did'nt stop on the exit other than de rigging the 20'.

He is not usually this slow as we have done this trip alot quicker. He is obviously unfit and drinking to much Butcombe!! Well I normally have to wait for him to catch up he will disagree.

Slower on this occassion as he had a load of kit and probably the air quality not great. The air should now start to improve with the wet weather on the way!!

My poor performance can be blamed on Allan, yet again he was weak and sweating like a blind lesbian in a fish shop.

And where is this socially aware, equal opportunities fishmonger?

Good question. After all this is a modern politically correct world!!

Wednesday 19th October 05 - down to Swildon's sump 2 and although the air is not as bad as it was a week ago when I got my headache, it is still not good; exertion still results in mild breathlessness and it's not just me! (I was with a bunch of marines and a couple were flaking out on the return, on their knees). No headache though so that's OK. Quite a lot of natural sap foam so there has been high water recently although today it was only about 5" at the entrance although there were many active inlets en route; the ducks approaching sump 2 were easily passed so the water level was lower than I had been expecting, considering the recent weather and today's forecast of heavy showers.

Look on the bright side, at least there will be plenty of exciting, sporting trips now the water levels have risen. Happy days! Sounds like your Juniper Gulf trip was fantastic!

How about some surface cave prospecting with the heavy rain as well?

Went to Swildons tonight. The air didn't seem too bad, unsuprising as there was a huge amount of water going down. Fantastic!

Yes, having been to Swildon's on Sunday and Monday I agree with Andy that the air does seem to have improved considerably.

I've started a new thread under the same title but for 2006. Copied the comment above into it to start things off... the weather's hot and sunny so the air may start to deteriorate soon
