I am pretty confident that when I constructed the web page mikem is referring to, I was taking the initiation date from Bob's own material.

I was a member of the NSG for a short time in the mid-late ‘50’s. My brother Les Tanner was Secretary. For a while the NSG amalgamated with the Limestone Club based at Knight Stainforth Hall and next to the New Inn in Clapham. It was shortly after that I moved away and lost touch.
in response to an earlier query as to whether the NSG had any cave divers, the answer is Yes - Bob Leakey who did a lot of work cave surveying in the Dales and partic’ Mossdales. Bob also attended the Peak Cavern tragedy and along with another diver attempted to reach the young guy trapped there (Neil Moss) via the previously unexplored stream outlet but sadly, were too late to save him.

The NSG still exists, in the form of a handful of members based in Huddersfield. I was a member in the late '80's - early '90's when they were active in digging projects in Wharfedale.....I am still active in Littondale....

We had Christmas Dinners in the Golden Lion, Settle. Bob Leakey last attended '88 or '89, giving one of his madcap, far out after dinner speeches!!
