Reel to Reel digitising

At the library we have an historic reel to reel tape which we would like to have digitised. It is a small format (maybe 5 inch. Unless we can getthis digitised it is or little value. We would like to get it onto our audio library. There are companies who provide such services but it is not a cheap process. Before we go down the commercial route I would like to find out if anyone out there in caver world was able to do this for us?
