Back at home a bit of planning decided.

We are starting another dig going up the fault. Here is a sketch view.

Yesterday. Scaffolding in. Some progress made in The Pit and up in The Attic.

A productive day at QWUH. Anyone fancy a poke ?

The usual old folk nonsense yesterday.

We hauled out all of last weeks boulders which I neatly added to the walls in the chamber.
Brian went up to the Attic to cap out the big boulder. That came down and opened up a way into the choke. The space is about 1.5m high and wide. Choke in the roof and also in the bedding going east. Mostly small angular rocks. We can poke them down if we build a boulder gate in the choke entrance. Anyway no poking without that today. Then Peter in the Pit capping, me in the middle and Brian on the winch. Brian and I worked out a better position for the pulley. We need a pin and battery cutter for that next time ( I will bring mine ). I got pissed off with the tub jamming against two boulders by the ladder so got Peter up to cap them. He messed about with the lower one saying it would fall on his legs if it went off. Trying to hit the rod from the top failed and jammed it in the rock .We could not get it out. I was irritable by now and hit the rod from the lower position. Needless to say the thing blew the rock in half and as predicted the half fell on my shin. That hurt considerably so there was much howling and whining. During the commotion Peter successfully capped the other rock. With the new pulley position and the rocks capped we should have an easier pull up. All rocks cleared and the kit left in the chamber.

Work going up in The Attic has continued creating a small chamber with a horrible roof. We ponder.

Part of the roof now down but it looks even worse. We may abandon upward progress.





Estimated at 10m below the surface. One more look next week to see if the fault continues on a level.

Another look at The Pit as well. Maybe its pinching out. Enlargement here next week with remote video. After years of work we might be nearing an end point.

I am still in a good mood. Yesterday was mad. Two digs 50 miles apart in the same day. I wont be doing that again. Time wasted playing Jenga at The Attic in QWUH. A return to The Pit for remote viewing and smoke testing. Plus a bit of drilling etc.

New ledge prepared for stacking.

The rift base emits a cold breeze. It filters through boulders to emerge from Roberts Den. The main cave is then followed to the entrance. Most promising as all or some of the cold draught coming out of the entrance has its origin at the bottom of The Pit
