No idea how I posted that twice but the original poster is a ex district councillor so it would seem the road remains open after all.

I suspect that the works might require multiple closures at different places along the length and at dates which are not accurately predictable. Therefore a traffic order has been made to legally close the whole length over the 5 month period, saving a lot of paperwork and legal costs, while the actual closures will only be what's necessary. I would hope there will be some system to notify road users of the actual closures.

We drove down it an hour ago!
