p.s. I should add that - as far as I am aware - no anchors were chopped as part of the recent work. Chopped anchors cannot be extracted and the hole cannot be reused. We have a puller specifically for removing anchors in the effort to reuse placements as much as possible.
One of the placements at the top of Ding pitch did spall (ie surface of rock broke off). This was likley the result of the poor choice of initial placement in a protrusion. We try to limit such damage by pre-drilling the sides of the resin before attempting a pull. Damage to the rock is unfortunately a risk with any anchor work and in my view is a good reason to install as few anchors as practicable.
We did notice existing remains of anchors cut off flush at the top of Ding pitch. It is possible these are what you saw. (There have been numerous changes and additions to the anchors here over the years, and until the puller was developed there was no convenient way of extracting anchors reliably.)
