Road sign indicating that the road out of Ingleton to Ribblehead will be closed on the 4th January for 5 weeks??

There is a sign on the way up the hill by the track up to Ingleborough and a sign on the way down by the turning for Storrs common quarry parking.

Couldn?t find anything on NY council website, but this could be a significant closure for cavers ??

If you go on the roadworks section of NYCC website, click on interactive map, adjust date from today to next three months, it shows up, electric cable laying apparently.

Edit: This should take you straight there: https://one.network/?tm=124343506

Thanks Infernus

It says ?Delays likely? so hopefully it?s not a complete closure (which does seem a bit extreme)

I'm one of the lucky people to get a letter from ENW about it... it says the road's going to be closed with access only maintained for emergency vehicles. A fantastic 20 minute detour for everyone by it to get to the village for 5 weeks  At least Oddies Lane is pretty? But if it get's icy, it'll be a hell of a detour.

Glad I'm returning to Uni almost as soon as it starts!

I fear that Oddies Lane and the road from  Helwith Bridge through Austwick are going to end up grid locked. Neither are suitable for large vehicles or more than a couple of vehicles in each direction squeezing into passing places. The only sensible diversion is via Ribblehead and Settle, but how many sat-navs will show that? And even that has the double bridges in Horton to contend with.

It looks like their recommended diversion is via Settle (hopefully this shows it: https://one.network/?tm=124343506 ). Trouble is loads of people know the obvious short cuts. So if the road closue is complete, the "quick" short cuts may not be so quick after all.

This is going to be a right pain.

Turns out it?s being cancelled now because the council have told ENW its plan is ridiculous- Have a Merry Christmas everyone, the New Years travel chaos has been avoided

It was originally due to start yesterday (4th). Can anyone confirm that it's definitely not gone ahead? (I did notice the road closure signs had disappeared completely several days ago.)

I drove over there yesterday and didn't see any signs or roadworks.
I'm glad too, because I'd completely forgotten about this!
