Rowten Sump Free divers be aware

Free diving from Rowten. The anchor in the second airbell is extremely worn and is likely to break soon. There is an aluminium anchor in the second air bell, that the free diving line is tied to as the first anchor coming from Rowten. This anchor is worn very thin and may break. This will likely change the route and length of the dive. This airbell is currently accessible from VE side with a useable airspace if someone would like to replace it.

Thanks for raising this SA.

There was a fair amount of rain overnight so a bit of uncertainty over whether that airspace is still there for the next day or two but the forecast suggests water levels will quickly fall over the B/H weekend.

@s_allshorn are you refering to a plate hanger on a M8 spit?

i see that some other regions install resin bonded anchors in such positions.... perhaps this kind of robustness and longevity would be desirable here

Ian, yes an M8 spit hanger. There is a resin bonded anchor at the Rowten end of the line already.
