SCHECC 2026 COMPETITIONS!
(on behalf of Ben Edwards who got banned by Captcha):
We are now less than a month away from our first CHECC of the year
As we are now approaching our regional CHECC'S its time to break out your pan and sling get on a pair of socks with no holes and start practising.
1- Best trip report
It doesn’t have to be the hardest trip or the most impressive this is just the best trip report. So start recounting your recounting your trips since BIG CHECC and write up your trip. You can email them or post them and tag check.
2- Photo comp
Just like hidden earth best photo however it doesn’t have to be in the cave just a caving photo (i.e. in the hut or on the way to and from the cave). 3 photos per club so please don’t dump your entire photo album on me.
3- Most impressive food underground
This one is a personal favourite of mine as I’ve seen and heard of some wild food underground. From a hot dog stand in Swildons to UBSS taking an egg through technical masterpiece. The dead line will be Sunday mid-day for this as to give people the chance to try and go for it on the Saturday.
In person competitions
This year we will be hosting competitions throughout the weekend as well as our usual night of chaos and comps.
*During the day*
1- Knot tying competitions . we will have a timed competition to tie 3 knots on one rope all very useful ones to know for rigging and other.
2- SRT assemble and put on. As the title says it will be a timed challenge to fully assemble a SRT kit and put one on with times not counting if once put on the harness is incorrect.
*In Person comps*
1- Sock wrestling, always a favourite among the clubs and my personal favourite to watch.
2- Pan and sling, a competition of teamwork flexibility and trust, definitely not favouring your typical Mendip caver.
3- Cavers choice its up to you guys, I’m trying to get the clubs of CHECC more involved so please respond to this post with what you’d love to see at SCHECC and if someone’s beat you to it react and interact with it so we can see which are most popular.
