That brings back a few memories of when we carried diving bottles in on NCC pushing trips all those years ago.  Yes a very interesting spot that defies normal logic in respect of rainfall.

Brilliant report Alex very brave to tackle that on your own. Don't think your spur of the moment decision to enter the Bottom Connector then follow upstream was that sensible but hey, we've all been there (I mean done daft things). Anyway, as has been said I agree: respect for your inspired bravery in having a go on your tod - I wouldn't have! And I have been in small wet gloopy passages solo years ago and remember it being a bit weird and exciting and scary; but nothing as ballsy as Hyperthermia.
Isn't Hyperthermia the first low minimal airspace section of passage going downstream from Hydrophobia? As named by the original ULSA explorers? Then the rest of it (nice by comparison) going downstream sort of 'un-named' - but the name stuck for the whole length - something like that.
The original article in whichever ULSA journal it was, is fascinating reading if I recall. I must check it out again.

BTW, I have been through Hydrophobia to the Ramp and the first sump on one or was it two occasions (first time May 1980 when it was drought conditions). I have also seen water flowing out of the entrance a foot deep (October 1980 or was it 1981). 
Wouldn't it be great to find out where the Ramp would have emerged and use that as an alternative entrance........... oops sorry  :spank:
