Sofirn SP40 for group use?

Hey,

I'm looking to buy a batch of lights for group use helmets. I've landed on the Sofirn SP40. I've heard fairly good reviews from cavers about other Sofirn models, but fairly little on the SP40. Before I go any spend any money does anyone have any experience with this model or have any other recommendations for group use lights?

Thanks :)

Yeah it's the charging port that will be the issue. Hard to beat on price though, so you could always just seal it with CT1 and charge your batteries in a multi-slot charger which is what you'd likely be doing with groups anyway?

There are some features I personally don't like (magnet), but fine for your use, and the magnet is usually removable. Same with lockout, it's a must for me, but probably fine if they're zip-tied on helmets. (Edit: it does have lockout, it's just not well advertised). And colour temperature, but again, fine.

You could consider the Skilhunt H04 if you were happy to pay a bit more (but still a bargain at ~USD$45) and not have to worry about the charging port.

I use a sofrin sp36 handtorch as extra light source. The build and used materials are similar to the sp40 so I think that's ok.

However my lamps is not waterproof (not bought to be waterproof so ok for me). I might be thinking that the sp40 will also not that waterproof.

Just something you need to be aware of. But as long you don't submerge the lamp you should be fine.
