There was an interesting piece in New Scientist November 22nd edition entitled songs from the caves. It seems cave paintings are situated in locations that have interesting acoustic properties, often producing reverberation or other effects such as the 'whispering gallery effect' It made me wonder if wandering through likely caves warbling away might lead us to some cave art! In a related observation we were in Gran Canaria some years ago at some excavated caves and adjacent to them was a hollowed out area that acted as a powerful amplifier that I am sure had been intentionally created for that precise effect. it is worth a visit if you are on the island although you will have to research it yourselves as I have forgotten the name! However I have photos of Mrs. Mrodoc in said feature along with the caves!
