• Tony is on holiday until Saturday 20th

This means that the Travelling Shop will be out of action for a week and any inquiries sent to him won't be picked up until he's back.

In the meantime the rest of the Starless River team will be hard at work ensuring online orders are posted out to you all. Thanks everyone.

  • Help us work out the future of the Inglesport Café

We've been trading since 1977 and next year will be our 50th anniversary.

The café has been part of that for a long time, running quietly in the background for years, and we don't think it always gets the credit it deserves as a genuine community hub. But we need to be straight with you: the café is under real pressure, and we’re not sure of the best path forward.....

Stop Pot to Eureka junction- question

Our route descriptions have been updated to reflect the new situation for The Sluice route through the Stop Pot boulder choke.

One of our team will be visiting in the next few months to properly stress-test the new wording. However, if anyone is visiting in the next month and could save us a job, we'd welcome feedback, particularly on the exact specifics of the bedding plane crawl alternative (especially as we believe it is quite hard to locate from the upstream side, so further specifics might be good).

The new description for this reads well to me. My way of locating it from upstream has always been simply to go through the choke at the same point I'd begin to climb up it if heading into the high level series, 1.5m or so above the stream as you say. There's no other clambering through boulders after entering the choke so if I found that rather than immediately being in the wide bedding crawl I'd know I'd gone wrong.
