Subterranean Folk Tales

Some spooky tales concerning Cymmy (Eli Simpson):- if you drink the water in the eponymous cave his ghost appears and advises you strongly to join the BSA (as was). Also I was told by a member of strange happenings at Brackenbottom when only one person was sleeping there (or trying to). Plates flying off shelves etc. Woooooooo
This reminds me of Clapdale House. In the 1980's when it was leased by Lancaster Uni, LUSS stayed there often. It was rumoured to be haunted with many tales of sounds and strange goings on. I always camped outside just in case....

A friend of mine was a voluntary warden there at that time so I got a few free stays. Great to get out of your muddy kit in the barn with hot showers to hand. The oddest thing I encountered there was when a group from a certain top notch university were staying. One bright spark siphoned some diesel from the minibus and gave us all an impromptu fire breathing display.

There's also the legend of the red and white dragons fighting in an underground lake in Dinas Emrys in southern Eryri, though there's no karst the area is riddled with mines so perhaps there's a new residence for y ddraig goch.

I stayed at clapdale a few times late 1980s and never heard anything, but I was with the canoe club
