I am researching some background on the cave diver Tom Brown, who was active in the 1970s in The Dales and the Peak District. Can anyone confirm where he orginated from. I was told Bury in Lancashire. Can anyone confirm this please?
I've heard of Tom being described as coming from Manchester and Bury. His accent was more Bury. When he arrived at Clapdale on his motor bike with a broken arm to join Mike Wooding for the BBC film, I remember that he had come from Derbyshire.
I'm a bit uncomfortable with of discussing folks' personal information on a public forum but I did offer what information I could to GG-GUY directly. If any former MUSS members from the very early 70s are reading this topic, perhaps they could PM the OP if they can shed light?
A good friend of mine, caved with him extensively in the 1980s before he moved to Tarbena.
Drank with him in the Three Stags, assissited him and Proctor to retrieve Shags body from the Shags sump in Merlins mine in the early 1970s.
A great friend for many years.
