The contentious issues

Well, we've had CroW arguing, BCA daftness and god knows what from the CsCC

Now I'm really sorry but I'm going to raise the real contentious issue ---

Oversuit legs inside or over wellies?

Depends on the trip. I switched from suit-inside to suit-outside recently when I realised that on trips where I stand briefly in above-welly water I can keep my feet dry for longer periods of time, especially with a snoopy loop round the suit legs. I spent a few months with one leg in and one leg out to see which leg I was most comfortable with and generally speaking I preferred suit-outside. It means I can bottom P8 in fairly wet weather and keep my feet dry for a digging session. I was able to keep my feet dry to the far sump of Notts2 recently, in wet weather, until I went for a plunge in the sump pool and then floated back home along the streamway.

If I know I'm going to be very submerged, like the Mucky Ducks in Peak, I put my wellies on the outside so I can empty them easily.

Outside on my meander inside on my AV because apparently the french have very skinny legs and they don't fit over my wellies.

Unless you are a poser (or your suit is too skinny, as above) I can't think of any conceivable reason to wear your oversuit inside your wellies; all it does is funnel everything, mud, gravel, water into your wellies.

As for emptying them easily on a wet trip; if I know I'm getting wet, I have wellies with a row of holes on the inside step, so they self drain.  :sneaky:

I usually stock up from the local car boot sale for ?1 a pair, but not found a single pair so far this season, all three we've had so far...

Inside, keeps my oversuit legs higher so I can bend my knees  ;)  If only the other contentious issues were so easy to sort  ;)

Unless you are a poser

I didn't buy hot pink wellies to cover them with a warmbac. Besides, I like the ingress of gravel, when I stop feeling it is a warning that I'm too cold

I've got shortie boots - takes away from the contentious issue all together, couldn't tuck the oversuit in if I tried.

My wellies have very wide tops and my AV oversuit has very narrow legs, but it is just possible to squeeze them over, which I prefer, with some considerable effort. When everyone's stood waiting at the door looking at their watches however, I have been known to wear them inside - and nearly always regretted it.
