UK travel insurance?

I've never taken out insurance for a UK holiday but the current state of Calmac services is giving me pause for thought. I had problems recently with ferries to Coll and Arran but didn't lose out financially as we either managed to get there or the accommodation didn't take payment. We're off to North Uist for 10 days in a few weeks and if Calmac cancel we won't get the accommodation costs back. Calmac will refund so it's just the accommodation that's the issue really. Has anyone got any recommendations? I've just been on moneysavingexpert and it gives about £16 for a company called Coverwise. Our main accommodation is about £500 for a week so it's not a huge loss but if I could potentially get that back for a reasonable outlay I'd be happy.

You're unlikely to find a better price, but need to check small print as to what they cover

Yes, the devil is in the detail! Looking on Go.compare I see that Admiral are offering £10.75 with £50 excess for their best version. Of course there's always a whole load of small print to read so if anyone has any experience/recommendations they have please let me know.
