US gear purchase

I'm pondering buying a BMS micro rack from the US having found somewhere that does seem to ship to the UK (https://wvunderground.net/shop/). If I do get one and anyone wants to tag other bits on the order to save on postage (e.g. spare rack bars etc. - I vaguely remember @Rob mentioning wanting some at some point?) then let me know.

I need a new pin for the hyper bar on my BMS micro-rack, but $18.75 seems a lot, even before postage!

Doesn't look like the pin is available separately.

Other than the pin breaking (and forming a razor sharp edge next to the rope), it's a great bit of kit and definitely my favourite rack. (y)

Watch out for import duty. At some point the duty paid will outweigh the postage saved with a combined order. Up to £135 is currently duty free, I believe, but a good idea to check. Saves a nasty surprise before you'll get your parcel.

Thanks for the suggestion but me n AlexR teamed up and sorted ourselves out for all our micro rackery. It is good gear

And I'm sure glad I got replacement bars, the current set have got pretty good grooves in them already. I absolute love mine, especially for permanently rigged caves (i.e. digging).

@PeteHall : What you're after is a stainless slotted spring pin, though I'm not sure what size. Just given mine a measure and they're 7.9-8.3mm so significantly off round. Given that they're American I suspect a 5/16" hole, pin is 2". Such a pin is available e.g. through Accu. Seeing as most of the cost will be postage you may as well order an 8mm one, too, and just see what fits better.
Alternatively you could reach out to BMS for measurements, I haven't had much luck with that route in the past.

Also known as roll pins, split pins, tension pins, c pins, rolled pins, which may help with a search for a local supplier of a single pin, or small number. I first came across them being called roll pins. As the rack is made by an American company, it is almost certainly an imperial size. Most Americans firmly believe that if they go metric, then the terrorists have won :). If you can't easily source an imperial sized pin, it may be possible to fit a near metric equivalent, depending on the existing hole size. If not, the hole could be drilled slightly bigger for the optimum fit of a metric pin. The compression on the pin is important, so it doesn't risk either moving in use if too loose, or damaging the bar if too tight.
