Washfold sump levels

Whilst down washfold today we noticed the sump levels rapidly drop by about 0.75m in the 10 mins it takes to have a chat , eat a chocolate bar, and talk about leaving the cave.
Is there any way this sump has a periodic siphon or silt dams that may have broken?
Any ideas from cavers or divers who knows this cave well?

Having dived here in the past, I know the sump fairly well. It is perched. When you surface at the far side there is a 5 - 6 m drop immediately after. So, maybe there was a temporary blockage at the pitch head which collapsed whilst you were there. ?
Never saw it happen whilst I was in there.

Can that blockage be removed, draining the sump and giving "dry cavers" a bit more cave to go at?

What's it like beyond the sump? My old copy of NC 'Ingleborough' (1981) ends there. Does it drain to the same risings as Alum Pot etc?

Looking at the old CDG newsletters it looks like it drops into a chamber on the far side and then into another (longer, deeper) sump not far beyond

According to AI: ' ... Washfold Pot drains beneath the river to Turn Dub and is part of the same hydrological system as Great Douk Cave'. Obviously, there's plenty of untapped potential there ...
