WetWellies Caving is closing.

It is with some sadness but absolutely no regrets, that I am closing WetWellies Caving.
Since working offshore it has been harder and harder to commit to bookings, although this hasn't deterred the determined from trying!

I have enjoyed literally every minute and can you believe, we have been going for 10 years this year!
I was going to count up how many new people I have introduced to caving over the last decade - many who kept coming back for more and some who loved it so much they joined clubs - but then I realised... this is why I am stopping. I just don't have the time to even add them up. It has to be in mid to high hundreds.

I always wanted to do something different to the sausage factory school trip and I think we definitely achieved that. I have so many fond memories, one in particular of a 6 year old budding geologist who gave me a guided tour of Goatchurch, pointing out every geological feature and bat, giving me a concise lecture on each one!
You can't buy that sort of gold. Rewarding doesn't even cover it.

I did consider handing my business off to the very capable hands of Mark Burkey. But, like me, he is just too time poor to do it justice and between us, in over a year, we hadn't even started to get the ball rolling.
Life moves on and I think it is time to keep going in the direction life has taken me.

I cannot thank those people enough who gave their unfaltering support and kindness - from when I was first setting up, right through until now.

I'm afraid of forgetting someone, but those who immediately spring to mind are Andy Sparrow, Rachel Sparrow, Gary Evans, Tony Seddon, Juliet Parker-Smith, Clive Westlake, Rich Walker, John Cooper, Ali Moody, Nigel Atkins and of course Jane and Tim here at UKC.

I have exciting things ahead and hopefully will be able to keep heading underground having my own fun instead of creating it for others.

In the meantime enjoy some of the best moments from the last 10 years at WetWellies Caving.

Well done Christine with your decade of fun/introductory/recreational caving! - as you state, it can be very fulfilling to create a spark of interest in newcomers which could result in a long-standing involvement; the Mendip Hills caving scene will be poorer for your absence. :-/ Your photos are flippin' awesome, btw.

Christine has been generous in allowing UKC and New to Caving to use various of her fab photos over the years - thank you!. Wet Wellies closing is sad news indeed, one more route for youngsters to discover the wonders of the underground gone - however well done you, Christine for the 10 years you spent taking people caving. Best of luck for your future endeavours.
