Just for general interest (and not my next photo challenge, as it'll take me a while to rummage something out) here's what it looks like in a damp day, when the water level has risen about 20 m. The profile of the cave is V shaped and the bottom of the V is just above water level in dry condituions. Even a tiny amount of rain raises the water significantly, trapping anyone beyond. If it then rises as in the picture below, the whole cave is filled to the roof.

NEVER go in there if it's an iffy forecast.

OK then, see if anyone knows this spot. (Admittedly not an easy one but clues can be given if necessary).
The photo is the correct way up, incidentally.

Nice phreatic passage along a fault plane.

Sorry Grahan; no. You're in the right caving area (Dales) - a lousy clue but at least it narrows it down slightly!

Nope. Let me see if I can think of another clue . . . . .

OK a bigger hint, to narrow things down; it's in the valley bottom, not up on the limestone benches.

Hmm. Is there anything down there that isn't underwater? The only one I can find that 'floods' rather than being underwater is K.Y. Cave. Certainly that picture is very clean washed !

Certainly is clean washed. But no, not K.Y.

I'd have thought you'd have got this Robin. (That's the biggest clue of all.)

Phew - we got there. That passage was discovered by sadly missed divers Biffo and Scoff from the Bradford, whilst exploring the large underwater system between Jingle Pot and Hurtle Pot. They went on to identify a surface connection which was later opened by BPC members, with the help of certain other noteworthy northern cavers. You can access it now without diving, so I didn't think it was overly unfair to use that photograph. Mind you, it is well off the beaten track.

All yours again RobinGriffiths.
