Not since 1974. Well inside Cumbria (or whatever they call it nowadays).

Okay maybe a clue is in order, prob give it away as there's not many options... but I visited this cave whilst at Hidden earth.

Is it Poacher's Cave? I recall there was a short pitch and the figure seems to be carrying a small tackle bag.

Is this the origin of the 'Poacher's' part of the name? Back when I did it I was only aware of the lovely Welsh Ogof Hen Ffynhonau.

Is this the origin of the 'Poacher's' part of the name?

I think some of the NPC members living not too far away had been digging it but a different club also did some digging and they made the actual breakthrough. Hence the English version of the name.
The late Derek Brandon was involved and he wasn't best pleased by the turn of events. So it became known among 'Pennine members as "Ogof Flogged Off Brandon".

For those who never met Derek, he was one of the main drivers behind the mid 1960s repair of the broken Colonnade formation in Lancaster Hole, as documented in the HWCPC 1966 journal. He was also an incredibly good banjo player, usually accompanied by his wife on guitar.
