What caving related thing did you do today?

(as people who know me may know if they've made the mistake of folding my laminates...)
Didn't fold my laminates 😄, but as I didn't trust the edges I put gaffer tape round all edges and double tape on one side as I wanted to stick some string to it. Survived a couple of shallow dives, annoyingly floaty but still good as new. With gaffer tape edges, I reckon this approach will work underground

We started on building an entrance 😁

Getting kit to hand. We now have six 700mm Acro Props, Five 600mm screw base jacks, five 8ft Scaffold poles. A bag of scaffolding clamps. A drill to leave in a box in the cave. The hard thing to find is the cavers.

Made several video calls from the sump at Rowter Hole and showed wifey and friends what we were doing. Uploaded some photos direct to Ukcaving too. It was a first for me and only possible thanks to Badger technology.

It's a brave new world!

Sat in the garden looking at the kit drying (thanks IW who always always sorts the kit) and wondered what to do now I'm overweight for my recently purchased oversuit, also too weak and too stiff to be capable underground.

Work harder at the gym? Find a new hobby and accept that I'm not "A Caver"? Only go on dangly trips?

Sad times. But certainly a first world problem.

Read the forum and got a welcome reminder about thin ropes 😬😬😬

I've found indoor bouldering to be really good for building strength for underground, I usually try to go once a week making sure to include a mix of climbing types.

A very good thing, thanks. On the day last year when we'd almost finished the new tube, a couple of youngsters went down. They soon turned around and came back up and one of them had a right struggle at the top (no Pantin). We put a length of working rope over a scaff bar held high to pop him out.
