Have a nice trip Bagpus. See the rock in the roof near the entrance marked with a red cross. We did that in 1969 thinking it unsafe. Its still there.
This one?

We did indeed, a few photos on the previous page of his thread. I enjoyed looking at your photos on the MCRA before our trip, a great archive/ record. Thanks Bagpus. The paint is starting to fade now. Hope you had a great trip. Loads of my " stuff " on Wessex Facebook Group or Mendip Registry.
I can't remember how long we took, but one of our party met us on the other side as the squeeze was a barrier, so I don't think it took that long @Ad W do you remember how long we were gone?Took my partner into Rods pot and did the through trip out of bath swallet. absolutely brilliant trip. I had a mooch down int the bear pit. My friend told me about the murlis loop. It sounded tight, which means it sounds right up my street. can anyone tell me about it? how long does it take? could i shoot around it whilst others wait in the main chamber?
How did you manage to close the gate behind you without trapping the rope in it as the belay appeared to be in rock outcrop above it?Coral cave last night, a very short cave in length, but impressive chamber. First visit for me, always enjoyable to go underneath an area we've hiked a lot. Half of us did SRT and the other half laddered it.

One of our party was surface support and didn't go down, they stayed on the top and kindly lifelined those of us that didn't use SRT down and up the cave. I think it was the warm evening we've had so far this spring! How did you manage to close the gate behind you without trapping the rope in it as the belay appeared to be in rock outcrop above it?
Does that mean a muddy padlock tomorrowIts TUESDAY !
You need one of these by the gateDoes that mean a muddy padlock tomorrow![]()
I feel this might be more appropriate. You need one of these by the gate![]()
It's easiest done from the bottom (Main Chamber) end.My friend told me about the murlis loop. It sounded tight, which means it sounds right up my street. can anyone tell me about it? how long does it take? could i shoot around it whilst others wait in the main chamber?
That reminded me that I didn't enjoy the bit over the big hole (El Capitof pitch) I'm not good with exposure and had a bit of an issue in that I had taken off my belt earlier on and reattached it around the rope you can clip onto by mistake, as I got above the hole I ended up being stopped from going any further and had to reverse it all to remove it..It's easiest done from the bottom (Main Chamber) end.
It's a bit thrurchy up the chimney to start, then turn left through a narrow rift (straight on is Hanging Rock Chamber, that is worth a look if you're passing for the first time), left again takes you up a small blasted passage to another left turn which is the most awkward bit. There's a right turn and a bit of a traverse after that, before you emerge in the main passage above the blind pots. I'd guess it would take about 15-20 minutes if you don't struggle too much with the squeezes.
It's good fun and definitely worth doing if you're not too large.
There's a video (a bit OTT) which gives a flavour here:Took my partner into Rods pot and did the through trip out of bath swallet. absolutely brilliant trip. I had a mooch down int the bear pit.
