In the woods Backwell nr Mendip, paths used by locals for years but not public footpaths, a reminder to look into possibility of getting them registered as future development in nearby fields could eventually impact access

Bluebells today, with the local elections coming up, I checked closely to be sure they were true English Bluebells not immigrant ones

Nothing rare but the “Ladies Smock” which have started growing and flowering around the entrance to my dig are pretty

We've caved in GB cave many times but for some reason not walked around the nature reserve in daylight hours above it before, rectified it this afternoon, will definitely be returning later in the spring to see more.

Or Corn Speedwell.. there are too many Speedwell varieties for my limited botany experience, should take a book on walks really.

I think the white flowering one might be Alpine Pennycress.

I saw huge patches on Anglesey and the Great Orme this week. My Dad once made wine from gorse flowers (home made wine was big in the early seventies).

Lots of mouse-ear chickweed by the path side today and also some tufts which always sprout on the sunny side of one of the canal bridges. I also saw some red campion. With the recent warmth it feels like summer is rapidly approaching.
