I loved this photo recently posted on the photography thread by JHaworth1 ((y)) and immediately thought 'Caption competition' 😁

To be in with a chance of winning 4 DMM Phantom HMS karabiners, post your best captions on this thread.

3 entries per person.

Closing date - 10pm, Wednesday 12th August .

Shortlist to be chosen by me, then it's over to random.org.

Good luck - and thank you to everyone who supports my competitions - means a lot

Here's the photography thread - always worth a look šŸ‘€

Thank you, as ever to the lovely folk at DMM for the generous prize (y)(y)

1) Trust us to find the only part of the UK not in drought...

2) If your mother asks, this was dry, well lit and 100% safe...

3) I think Google maps lied to us...

(Thanks for running the comp!)

Reactions: Rob
Entered on behalf of my mate Chat.

In the throat of the earth where daylight is rumor,
two figures kneel to the language of stone.
Helmets bloom like small suns in the dark,
their beams stitching silver into the water.

The cave breathes—slow, mineral, ancient—
walls curved like the memory of rivers,
every drip a clock that never hurries,
every echo a name the world forgot.

They wade where silence grows thick as mud,
hands feeling for secrets beneath the surface,
as if the earth might answer if touched gently,
as if darkness were something you could learn.

A rope hangs behind them, pale as a lifeline,
a reminder that somewhere the sky still exists—
but here, in the hush between heartbeats,
they belong to the deep.

And the water, clouded with centuries,
keeps their reflections softly broken—
two brief lights
inside an endless night.
