Blue plaque unveiled for Yorkshire Dales writer Arthur Raistrick

Arthur Raistrick's work helped to create the Yorkshire Dales National Park, speakers say.

Mounted on the National Park Visitor Centre in Grassington, it describes him as a "polymath whose life's work help create the Yorkshire Dales National Park".

I have an OS map of Arkengarthdale from his ‘collection’ it’s the first one ever made and initialled AR on the little box it’s in.
(Excellent for metal detecting nerding as it’s shows tracks roads houses and mines that didn’t even exist as “folk memory” any more.
