Bull Pot & Yordas This Weekend
« on: May 10, 2012, 09:45:07 pm »
Hi All,

This Sundays trip is a combination of Bull Pot in Kingsdale and Yordas Cave & Pot.

Bull Pot is a vertical grade 3 to 4 SRT trip with 5 pitches, the 4th pitch being the largest at about 25m and the 5th pitch being slightly awkward with a traverse under a boulder leading to the pitch head. Ian Jolley is leading this part of the trip.

For the new SRT members we are doing Yordas Cave and Pot, initially we will enter via the side route ( dry ) and down the next short pitch to the Chapter House pitch. If dry enough we will descend down the waterfall into Yordas Cave. After the second pitch there is a crawl leading to the bottom of Yordas Pot which is about 20m. Hopefully we can rig this to give another option to practise on before moving on to Bull Pot to do the first two or three pitches. I’m leading this part of the trip.

For those wanting to practise rigging there should be plenty to go at.

We will meet for breakfast at Inglesport Café at 9:30am – this will give chance for the newcomers to buy SRT kit ( if needed ) from the shop.

Please email or text Robin to let him know numbers so he can sort out who’s doing what in terms or teams and rigging etc.

If needed Robin can get to Inglesport for 9am to advise on the SRT kit required, just let him know.

This was Yordas today! Kendal just had 50mm of rain today. I am going to the Churns tomorrow with a goup, so I will be able to give an accurate idea tomorrow evening.

Good day at the Churns exciting levels, busy going down Dr Banisters, water levels dropping, but still high.  We are still going for it, but may look at Jingling Pot, or something else if it is still high

Good trip or trips today, Bull Pot and Yordas. Amazing how the water levels have dropped since the pictures.

Can anyone remind me of rope lengths for Bull pot/Kingsdale here?  Lent my Northern Caves out and not got it back yet, Cave Maps is a bit vague.

Looking forward to a trip tomorrow so going to sort out kit this afternoon.  Many thanks.

Mine too Paul, Lots of nice short pitches so keeps everybody busy, no hanging around for slow coaches (like me!)

Thanks for that, looking forward to a day out with the lads tomorrow!
