Joint Service Caving Handbook
« on: May 18, 2018, 01:53:28 pm »
Does anyone have a copy of the Joint Service Caving Handbook, JSP 432, that they would like rid of, or anyone got any idea where I might find one? It's for a present, but it's out of print, and good old Google is coming up with nothing. Condition not hugely important (ideally in one piece though!) Thanks!

You could try asking the Ministry of Defence for a copy under the Freedom of Information Act. Other 'JSP's have been released this way. I don't see why a caving techniques manual would have any security risk to prevent its public release. Likely this would be electronic, but you could print and bind a paper copy as a gift.

Alternatively try asking the Combined Services Caving Association.

There are electronic PDF versions downloadable from the interwebs (for example https://www.aditnow.co.uk/documents/personal-album-4/Caving-skills.pdf or https://docgo.net/philosophy-of-money.html?utm_source=caving-skills)
it appears these seem to be a different document to the one wanted. different title, different author/publisher. it even references the JSP 432! also both documents go to page 40 whereas the contents say there are over 130 pages.

Sorry. Looks like I deleted my copy a while ago (when it was replaced by the 'Caving Aide Memoire').

Connor roe may be able to help. Don't have any contact details for him, but bratch maybe able to point you in the right direction? I could be barking up the wrong tree though.
