I pre-ordered this the same time as I ordered Cochranes book - you're welcome to borrow it after I've read it.

Rising Water is aimed at young readers (aged 1O-14).

James massola's book is also getting some good "page turner" reviews:

OK, the Library copy has just arrived so I'm taking it home with me to read and will report back.

Noted that it's one of a series called Atheneum Books for Young Readers and also that it was written by someone who was not present at any time during the rescue but assembled the book following interviews and contacts with many of those who were involved.

A very quick flip though seems to indicate that it is at least sensible and written in good English - something of a relief after the dreadful Greenlaw effort.  So, we'll see.

This is a good, sensible book and, though it's aimed at "younger readers" it is well worth reading as a clear summary of what happened and who was involved.

It carefully lists all the various teams who were there, both the diving teams and the underground helpers (including a Chinese contingent who seem to have been mostly forgotten by the other writers), as well as the numerous Thai volunteers, politicians, etc. Not forgetting the Wild Boars themselves and their Assistant Coach, so we learn more about them as well.

It is well written and, having been assembled by someone who wasn't there but has contacts all over the world to seek information, it seems pretty accurate in general.  (I do wish non-cavers wouldn't keep talking about "porous Limestone" though!)  It has some clear diagrams which help clarify what was happening where in the cave and includes a set of colour photos.  The only disappointment was the poor quality of some of the B/W photos printed on the text pages.  It includes a time-line, notes about some things in the chapters and a good index.

I'd recommend this as a relatively cheap addition to any Caving Library.
