The CREG Autumn Field Meeting has been arranged for the weekend of 5th/6th November 2016. It will be held in the Yorkshire Dales.
A number of highlights are already confirmed:
1. The opportunity to play with a ZEB-REVO handheld laser scanner, as featured in CREGJ93 earlier this year.
2. We?ll have a detailed look at the Cave Link messaging system, that?s being adopted by many cave rescue groups. We had a demonstration at EuroSpeleo, but our filed meeting will allow a much closer look and we?ll be able to see just what it can do. Cave Link has a number of add-ons and with luck we?ll also be able to put some of these through their paces. (More news when those details are firmed up.)
3. We will have the latest DSP noise filter from bhi LTD and be able to feed this with ?challenging? audio from a cave radio to hear how this DSP unit improves intelligibility and reduces listener fatigue.
4. There will be some long-range data transmission to see just how far we can reach from an underground transmitter and generally push the HF cave radio envelope a bit further.
Other things are in the pipeline, including quite possibly, one or two talks. If you have something to bring along, either to test or just to ?show and tell?, please do. It?s great to see what people are up to - and it gets the creative juices flowing!
More news shortly. In the meantime, please put in in your diary.
Please contact Mike Bedford at bedfordmd@aol.com for further information.
