I've just been given a copy of Britain Underground (1953) by a friend. It was obviously someone's 'working copy' many years ago and has hand written notes etc written inside. The name inscribed inside is Melvyn Barton and an address in Skipton, plus the letters S.C.C. (perhaps Skipton Caving Club?).
Anyone know anything about Melvyn or S.C.C.? I'm just curious...

Might be worth talking to the more senior end of the CPC as many of them are or were deeply rooted in Skipton.

It is Skipton Caving Club. A mutual fried of ours, with whom you occasionally give excellent presentations on a certain Dale, has confirmed this and tells me he's been in touch directly.
