What caught our interest in 2016?

I've had a bit of a dig through the UKC data to see which topics generated the most interest last year. There are many metrics by which this can be determined, but going by the total page views per topic*, these are the 10 most popular topics from last year:

1. Tankard Shaft Dig (13208)
2. Friday joke - WARNING - contains swearing (10593)
3. Eldon Hole - Trip Report (10479)
4. Cryptic caves (8959)
5. Very silly pics (8611)
6. Peak District - Wezzit?  (8111)
7. The deadly croll (6194)
8. Wezzit? (5348)
9. The referendum - how will YOU vote? (5234)
10. Browns Folly Quarry / Mine - ongoing deliberate destruction (5044)

The first thought I had was why on earth the Tankard Shaft dig topic should have more views than the Eldon dig topic?! ;)

But it's interesting to note that aside from the topics that are self-sustaining (jokes, wezzits, cryptic caves, silly pics) the dig logs are the most popular. Personally I'd love to see more on here, and based on these numbers so would quite a few people!

Of course Eldon did start in May 2015, whilst Tankard kicked off in Dec, but that's still quite impressive to get 20% more views than the next most popular topic!
