    BCA finances

Planning for unexpected events is always good. I'm just wondering how you are going to mitigate against this. You bought it up after all. Any number picked could indeed be questioned, as this number was. You have provided a very reasonable explanation. Surely it is not unreasonable to ask...

    BCA finances

Depending on the size of an insurance claim premiums might well double, or treble or possibly increase tenfold. What is the logic for specifically including premiums doubling in future risks. Without numbers statements about financial situations are difficult to judge. So I won't comment on...

    BCA finances

I'm quite concerned that BCA feels it has to prepare to continue providing a service to cavers should it be denied banking services!! What is the committee doing that makes this a possibility and how will it manage without banking facilities?

    BCA pros and cons

I'm no fan of BCA and the way the insurance works, but at least the insurance is against the person not a club (yes I know its very limited in scope and its worth the person having extra insurance). This means the person can cave with any club without joining, should the club allow. In the...

    Mud Sump

To get to the other side you would have to do a reverse Short Round Trip minimum. This would involve bailing, or free diving , "The Troubles". These are 2 or 3 ducks that are ear deep (depending on how much bailing you do). They are set up to be bailed and siphoned from Mud Sump side. I don't...

    Browns Folly Mine

That could be Shakespeares, it was open 3 weeks ago. Muddy hole is easier to find. The path to the fallen tree near Muddy hole is very well troden. Parking is good on the road out of Monkton Farleigh by the Restore entrance.

You can always pop into Monkton Farleigh quarry while you're there.

Swildon's Changing Barn improvements - immediate appeal for help

Unusually no. The organiser was there at the start on Sunday and he said "10 is plenty early enough on a Sunday" Unlike on the Saturday when he wasn't there at the start so everyone, yes that's both of us, started at 9.30.

    Insurance for trips

Before I start. DO NOT TRAVEL UNINSURED. What happens if you are uninsured. Would you be rescued? Does reciprocal (OLD EHIC) health cover get you to hospital and treatment? Somehow get home after hospital discharge. Does UK bankruptcy cancel international debts? If you have few assets this is...

    Insurance for trips

Why would I try phoning them? 1. I don't like phoning people, even people I know. 2. There is company offering to cover me, no more questions asked. If I phone another company that doesn't automatically cover me, there is always the possibility, however unlikely, that they will decide not to...

    Insurance for trips

The thing that stops me using BCA is the 2 prescribed medications limit. Snowcard it is 2 per illness, with only certain illness included.

    Insurance for trips

I've been looking at sportscover direct. This seems identical to snowcard, including price. But the wording for pre exciting Medical Conditions is slightly different. In some circumstances snowcard wording is best in other circumstances spirtscover direct seems better.

    Insurance for trips

Aricooperdavies, I am not being flippant or suggesting anyone doesn't take out insurance. Your link to an article that states "Westhauser himself is making "a not inconsiderable contribution," the ministry said. “The share corresponds to his income and assets. It would be disproportionate to...
