    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

    Wanted: Broken Duos

If anyone has any non-functioning Duos (knackered switch, corroded cable, screwed battery connectors, etc), I'm interested in making them an offer. All I'm bothered about is that the casings (battery box+lid+clips, headset+bezel+mounting bracket, ideally both) are in one piece, anything else I...

Updated 14LED DUO inserts from Petzl?

Is anyone aware if Petzl have announced any improved 14LED units in the last couple of years? I don't remember hearing anything but quite possibly they said something and I missed or forgot it, but there is a newer design around, and I'd be interested what (if anything) they had said about it.

    Rope found in Notts 1

I found a rope today in Notts, marked 'GEMMEL', at the bottom of the first pitch after the routes join. For arranging return, post here with description or (probably better) email me at 'sales at bisun.co.uk'. It's likely to be accesible at te NPC hut near Newby for the next week if the owner...

    Wanted: Electrically dead Duos

If anyone has any waterproof but non-working Duos (front and/or battery box), drop me a line. I'm not concerned about the quality of any of the electrical internals (battery/cable contacts, cable, switch, etc) just the housings being intact.

    Jingling pot tree (trunk failure)

On Sunday (2/2/14), I noticed that one of the main trunks of the Jingling Pot tree was leaning and/or lying horizontally across the shaft - not the one people traditionally hung ropes off, but the trunk closest to Aquamole. The trunk seems to have rotted/split upwards at the base and fallen over...

    New Duo insert

I (Bisun) have finished my new Duo insert, if rather later than I'd hoped to do. Brief overview is: Twin beam unit with bright spot and centre-boosted flood beams. Independent control of beams. Thermal protection and redundant circuitry for extra peace of mind Loads of setup options, which...

Light power level sequance - any preferences?

I'm just finishing off programming a controller for a twin-beam Duo insert, and I'm unsure what order to put the light levels in. To try and make a single 'universal' insert, there are a few easy-to-select operating modes for people to choose from. One mode will be a fully-flexible one allowing...

    Serv-light 2.0

It seems there's a new (and very different-looking) Serv-light around. http://www.serv-light.com/ Seems it's kind-of a homebuild - you supply your own electronics. An odd approach, but then the original serv-light did seem more advanced in terms of casing than drivers.

Re-using FX battery F cells for drill pack?

Does anyone have any experience reusing FX2/3/5 cells for drill battery packs? I've acquired sufficient packs to make an external battery pack for a 14.4V drill (don't laugh - despite the low voltage, it's a very solid SDS hammer drill), and I'm wondering if there are any tips for dismantling...

    FX2 users

Would there be any FX2 users out there (individuals or (especially) outdoor centres) interested in a no-obligation look at an LED upgrade that gives much more light and significantly more full-power runtime? If so, post here or PM me.

    Reflector silvering

Would anyone know what might cause loss of silvering on an Oldham reflector? Particularly, would Vaseline on the sealing ring cause blackening of the reflector nearby (by reacting with the protective lacquer?)

    Found: Undersuit on Leck Fell

Friday 19th January. An undersuit was picked up by a mate assuming it was mine - I'd already driven off, and there were no other vehicles around apart from mine and my mate's when we left. It seemed better to hang on to it rather than go back and dump it where we found it. PM me with...

    Cheap equipment

Anyone reckon it's worth having a thread about cheap or discount equipment? At least a day or two ago, some Lidl stores were doing shorty/full-length 3mm wetsuits for £20/£30 respectively, though I've only seen them in small sizes - might be okay for the occasional ducking and/or wearing with...

    Partial P-bolting

Is there any web resource to indicate which caves are partially P-bolted and/or which caves (or non-P-bolted parts of caves) have usable or unusable spits? I know such a source would only be as good as the information submitted to it, but it could be handy to know that a at a known point in...
