    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

    New Makita 36v Drill

Is anyone using the new Makita 36V SDS Drill that utilises 2 18v batteries? I wonder if combining the options of having a smaller 18v SDS bolting drill,  slitting wheel and 36V drill for digging, all of which utilise the same 6 batteries is a worthwhile idea. I've used the older 36V Makita...

    Scaffolding placement

We're currently using scaffolding and shuttering to move (crawl) through an area of breakdown and infill. Whilst discussing how to progress the question was asked,  is it better to continue tying in the new scaffolding to the existing scaffolding and one solid wall or should a new cage be...

    Jean Pot

I recall (2016) someone was installing P hangers in Jean Pot. Was this finished (and derigged) and does someone have a rigging topo or description? Regards Gareth

    drift HD ghost

Has anyone tried using the Drift HD ghost Actioncam, for caving / cave diving? I'm looking for a helmet mounted camera and this looks like the better of the ones on the market currently. Thanks Gareth

    Gorner Glacier 2012

"Towering above the alpine villages of Switzerland, Italy and France, the imposing peaks of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains have long been a mecca for mountaineers and explorers alike.  Today, whilst cable cars and a mountain railway transport hordes of tourists to the more accessible...

    concrete bolts

Has anyone here tried using concrete bolts for aid climbing instead of thru bolts. I'm not suggesting for pitch heads, rather using 1/4" dia screws to speed up climbing. It would have the benefit of being reusable and leaving nothing behind. If you wanted to reuse the holes or enlarge for thru...

Wanted - soil pipe for dig

I'm looking to get hold of approx 20m of (soil) pipe and connectors if required. Ideally I'd like 160mm dia (6") but 110mm or similar dia will work too. If anyone can help its for an airlift project at a local resurgence here in S.Wales. I live in cardiff but hopefully the caver network can...

    ear protection

Has anyone had experience using a Scubapro or IST Pro Ear Mask (or similar) to prevent damage to their ears whilst using drills or percussion tooling underwater. I thought in conjunction with moulded ear plugs they might be enough of a barrier to prevent damage to hearing. Thanks Gareth

    Pwll Dwfn

Please be aware that Pwll Dwfn is currently subject to an active attempt at digging the sump by the welsh section CDG. The cave is rigged with some rather dubious old 8 & 9mm tat in expedition style. There's also 1.5" dia air hose running down the cave using the newly created bypass. Please...

Castleguard "Cave Diving in the Freezer"

You watched 'Life in the Freezer', now here comes your chance to hear about 'Cave Diving in the Freezer'... Imagine dragging all your diving equipment and camping gear up a mountain in the snow, then crawling through hundreds of meters of narrow cave partly filled with melting slush, in the...

    lightweight SRT kit

I'm looking for advice on putting together a light weight SRT kit using minimum kit possible, to reduce both weight and make cross functional. Two small pitches to ascend after an 8k trip. What wold you use for these. I believe they're relatrively straight forward. It'll be shared for pitches...
