    Schoolhouse Cave

A group of BEC members visited it last year at my suggestion. Took a while to find what we think was Schoolhouse Cave. The part we found was stream sink with walking passage and roof stal. We packed up when the roof lowered.

    Mud Sump

Well the fourth generation has now been caving in my family. I got my father into it back in the mid 60's then persuaded my wife to try it then both my daughetrs (one has been to Meghalaya a couple of times) and now all my grandchildren have been underground (and Scarlett has been in Descent)...

Do tell which ones they are for as per usual I don't know who Long Drop is! Unless people tell me their real names I haven't a clue who they are as you can imagine.

Too Much " Foreign Stuff " In Caving Mags. and Journals ?

Like Langcliffe I feel it is the content of the stories about foreign caving that is a factor. Pozo Azul's exploration is so extraordinary it would be criminal not to share the tale. Some reports do become a bit hackneyed and I then lose that sense of connection one needs. Sometimes there is a...

Cave in Brixham - Behind Dolphin Court Apartments on Overgang?

I gather access is still tricky but for the life of me I cannot remember who gave me the most recent update! Just for interest I took a member of the family after which the cave is named down Pridhamsleigh a couple of years ago. She wanted to record water sounds underground.

Best ever bands that are still hanging around

I am surprised nobody has mentioned 10cc who we saw the other day. Few bands would play an entire album straight through which is what they did a few years ago. It certainly prompted us to see their latest tour. Some of the wittiest and most entertaining pop/rock ever produced. Then there is...

    Fluorescein dye

I have been injected with fluorescein a couple of times relating to my eyes. It basically saturates you then is excreted through the kidneys. You glow under UV light, light up the gents and you might want to warn your partner before you get frisky after one of these injections.

What can caves teach us about climate change?

Talking about climate reminds me when cryogenic calcite was found in large amounts in our find in Reservoir Hole. It was Nick (OR) Chipchase who dug up the description Frozen Deep for the huge chamber we had found. I find it fascinating that the Frozen Deep was, in geological terms, a genuine...

What can caves teach us about climate change?

Quite a lot judging by the quantity of research going on in caves regarding palaeoclimate both in the UK and elsewhere.
