    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

    Rowter Hole Update

Afternoon all, I thought we were probably overdue an update on the various digging activities ongoing in Rowter Hole. The Upstream Origins Dig Mentioned in a previous topic it is currently being allowed to 'settle' after a very enthusiastic period of terrifying progress. The sump pumping...

Rowter Hole- Upcoming work to be aware of

On 25th, 26th and 27th May the Buttered Badgers will be undertaking a sump pumping project in Rowter Hole. We intend to keep access open throughout (who are we to deny you all access!?) but would prefer if people did avoid sporting trips over those days if at all possible. We will have 250m of...

    Rowter Hole- The Origin Dig

Following the breakthrough at Bad Badger Choke several years ago BBPC focussed their efforts on pushing leads deep within the new Rowter extensions. All the while though it was at the back of our mind that Badger Rift had a stream flowing in the bottom of it from out of a rubble filled passage...

CAUTION!... and help needed in Rowter Hole

It has come to my attention that the old electron ladder in the Icecream Trail in Rowter Hole has finally given up the ghost and partially snapped. Firstly, please be aware if planning a trip that this is now an extremely dangerous hazard and the lack of ladder will make exiting much, much...

    Alum Pot Easter Cleanup

Thorough research and consultation with Natural England carried out by Mark Sims led us to conclude that the old water  tank discussed on UKC  here...https://ukcaving.com/board/index.php?topic=21647.0 was indeed rubbish and should be removed from the cave. Over the Easter weekend the Buttered...

    Rowter Hole- Now Bolted

Over the course of three very long and fairly punnishing trips, Rowter Hole extensions have now been fully resin bolted. In total, 68 anchors were placed and all pre- existing rigging removed. The cave is now 'ready for use'. We will publish a rigging topo in due course but need to arrange a...

The Steam Room- Giants Hole. A modest new discovery

16/07/15 Tom Tom, Mark R Excited- yes Optimistic- yes Anticipating a breakthrough into new passage- probably Expecting a massive discovery- not really It didn?t matter that the bit of cave we were trying to get into looked small, the fact was that tonight we were heading off down what is...

    Nettle Pot- The Far Flats

Just a quick note to say that last night we de- rigged the two 'fixed' Badger ropes that have been rigged in Nettle Pot for the last few months. To get along the far flats to Derbyshire hall you will now need to take two ropes for the two down pitches. 20 ish and 12 ish metres I think.

The Assault Course and A Grand Day Out

Just a quick note following a trip to A Grand Day Out in Peak this weekend. It's a little visited place, and for good reason- it's extremely strenuous and it hurts! The result of this is that the permanently rigged pitched at the end are still rigged on a combination of what I think are the...

Legal requirements for caving clubs- equipment records and maintenance

Hi all, I was wondering if any club equipment officers could enlighten me on what lengths they go to to mark kit and record certificates, details, maintenance and inspection records etc for club equipment. What items do you mark? How do you trace ropes etc? I'm aware of (and practiced in) the...

Mark R, Mark S, Ben E, Chris H 1st March 2015 Our Sunday morning lie in was well deserved after our trip to the far reaches of Rowter. Suicide Chamber- Aptly Named

12/02/15 Tom Tom, Mark W, Steve Turnbull, Mark R Tonight?s trip was all about working out if the dig at the bottom of East Chamber was enough to interest us in a long term project. Who is/ was working in Easy Pickings- Nettle Pot?

I'm pretty sure it had "OCC Please Leave" written on it (ill double check tomorrow). does anyone know who this belongs to, apart from the Orpheus? I'd be...

    Nettles Nasty Nether Regions

22/01/15 Rob Eavis, Simon Gant, Mark R I left work at 5 with a slice of pizza on the seat next to me and drove straight to Nettle. The plan was for me to make a start on rigging to the bottom of the cave and at some point two more cavers Rob had sorted out would catch up to help out. Meanwhile...
