Very sad news about the passing of a climbing legend. I know Joe was no stranger to caving. There is the Smoo Cave video and I seem to remember something about a descent of Eldon on a knotted rope. He designed the first British climbing helmet which I for one used for caving for many years...

Having found a survey of Rough Tearsall near Matlock dated 1973 I am wondering why this mine doesn't appear in Caves of the Peak District. Does it on longer exist? Even if it doesn't I would have thought it would get a mention.
