BCA AGM voting is now open

Voted, nice easy process as before 👍 I should mention the email landed in my Spam again though. It's not common for stuff to be flagged for that inbox, it's a 'clean' address and the filter is set to low sensitivity. I forwarded it to a spam testing tool and there were no issues with the...

    Normally too wet

On a side note I hadn't come across Speleodex before, nice resource whoever you are. Those flowchart topos are mind-blowing labours of love 😮

    Wezzit?

It is! I think Grey Crag is lower down, over the stream from Hospital Level. I can't remember whether this is called The Crater, Simon's Nick, or something else.

Question about stop grip and slip.

I've been there when it's happened to someone (although it wasn't a Stop actually but a Singing Rock descender with a weird design). At the deviation halfway down Cathedral in Lost Johns', the caver (of many years' experience) somehow managed to pin the handle in 'go down fast' mode by getting...

    Wanted: Speleo Sportive en Ardeche

There was one on Amazon UK for £568! Probably cheaper to just take out a good insurance policy and wander into random entrances and see what happens. Sorted now though, thanks all

    Wanted: Speleo Sportive en Ardeche

Bonjour tout le monde, Was wondering whether anyone has a copy of Speleo Sportive en Ardeche, or any other Ardeche-related material? Either for sale, or for hire for 2 months! I also have some guidebooks for other French areas for a swap-and-harvest arrangement

    Snow update

Snow socks are amazing, and way less hassle than chains. Although if you don't slip them off as soon as you're off snow, they get shredded in minutes - or maybe it was just my Temu specials ☺️ We were up at Sunset tonight, the road up Chapel-le-Dale is all clear as you'd expect, the snow was...

    Devis Hole - formations

Thanks Chris. Tony's patience in surveying those maze areas can only be worshipped 🙇‍♂️

    Devis Hole - formations

It was in the West Level rather than in the maze areas, which looked to be a natural passage which had been artificially widened on one side - pic of nearby passage below. @Lankyman some of those pics do look very similar to the roof pendants we saw

    Devis Hole - formations

We braved an underwater Swaledale for a New Years Day trip in the wonderful Devis Hole today. Noticed these unusual formations at roof level and wondered if anyone knows what the story could be? To be clear, everything in the pic is solid - none is muddy or crumbly, it's not just fill. Are they...

    Best Passage Names?

The Osmotic Palpitator The Fat-o-meter Oomagoolie Talking of linked pitch names @Fulk, It's always upset me that Rope Pitch in Ireby isn't called 'Little Johnny Flynn Pitch' to follow the plotline Ding Dong Bell, Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Flynn

    Putting it to a vote.

Just my suggestions: - Agree with mikem and wellyjen, the data sources about the sites, access etc. are already out there, don't get weighed down creating a new national database of sites and their info - you can't keep on top of that data yourselves and you'll just end up with out-of-date data...
