04-05-2025 Mossdale caverns - Anniversary chamber

Yeah I never found the follow up article. Sounds like an interesting spot though with the draught. Sounds like a long way to go though.

04-05-2025 Mossdale caverns - Anniversary chamber

Was the chamber discovered on a subsequent trip to this one? https://rrcpc.org.uk/newsletters/NL_V32_N2_A2.htm

    Redhouse Lane Swallet Update

Has the Redhouse Stream been dye tested to Symonds Yat? I vaguely recall Dalek(?) and Paul Taylor(?) pushing a tight passage upstream at a resurgence there back in the nineties?

    Redhouse Lane Swallet Update

Looks like quite a lot of rain overnight that has now cleared through. Fingers crossed you can get in on Monday 👍🏻

    Redhouse Lane Swallet Update

Has Three J's Grotto been scoped out as a potential connection? Sounds like you need a surface team to help you locate the end of the crawl from the outside.

What caving related thing did you do today?

Does this mean Redhouse is still going?

    Redhouse - The Chocolate River

How does the elevation of Chocolate River compare with the caves at Symonds Yat?

    Redhouse - The Chocolate River

Amazing explanation. What all diggers dream of finding. That draught must be coming from somewhere open to surface. Hope you find out where!

Looks like it's still going 😮 Another great exploration video put up on YouTube yesterday.

    Caves with exposed rigging/traverses?

Surprised no one has suggested the direct descent of Alum Pot main shaft. The rebelay on the lip of the 60m freehang is certainly up there on my list of exposed situations. An exhilarating place to contemplate the void beneath you..... And in daylight as well.

    Caves with exposed rigging/traverses?

I'm sure Pitlamp would agree... Ride of the Valkyries in Far Sump Extension has an amazing sense of exposure. The initial traverse to the pitch head has an impending sense of something huge below. The take off doesn't do the pitch justice until you reach the rebelay a few metres down and...

(Winnats head) The wood above the slot in Winnats is snapping, and the slot SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED! A warning to all!

As an aside, I remember going down through the chokes in Winnats Head in the mid nineties. The old electron ladders on the collapsed Cornwall Avenue pitches were still visible completely mangled amongst the jumble of boulders. Wonder if they're still there? It's a daunting place to be down below...

    Gautries hole - the extensions

Anyone been back to remove the plug? There must have been a lot(!) of water through there by now. Also seems a shame to have lost access to what was an admittedly short but fun little cave....

    Breakthrough in Fairy Holes (Weardale)

Any updates on exploration here? Sounds like it's gone further than described above.....

WANTED copy of not the faint hearted by Mike Cooper

I was going to ask on the Fairy Holes post elsewhere in the Forum - did it go much further than the exploration already reported there? Sounded like it was ongoing....

Best huts for doing the nasty in???

I was getting changed in the Belfry many years ago when a well known female member of the BEC walked in completely starkers except for a pair of wellies. It was certainly difficult to know where to look whilst having a conversation, the subject matter of which I have completely forgotten 😵‍💫

    Simpsons water levels

I might be imagining it or have a poor recollection but I'm sure I've been in Valley Entrance in very wet weather and water was flowing down the pitch into the master cave which was backed up to a depth of at least a couple of meters. The streamway below was silent but an absolutely huge volume...

    Sunset bedding crawl

Presumably the stream that can be heard is the Sunset stream heading towards Roaring Hole? Would reopening the connection to Braithwaite Wife Hole make access any easier?
