Surprised no one has suggested the direct descent of Alum Pot main shaft. The rebelay on the lip of the 60m freehang is certainly up there on my list of exposed situations. An exhilarating place to contemplate the void beneath you..... And in daylight as well.

I'm sure Pitlamp would agree... Ride of the Valkyries in Far Sump Extension has an amazing sense of exposure. The initial traverse to the pitch head has an impending sense of something huge below. The take off doesn't do the pitch justice until you reach the rebelay a few metres down and...

As an aside, I remember going down through the chokes in Winnats Head in the mid nineties. The old electron ladders on the collapsed Cornwall Avenue pitches were still visible completely mangled amongst the jumble of boulders. Wonder if they're still there? It's a daunting place to be down below...

Anyone been back to remove the plug? There must have been a lot(!) of water through there by now. Also seems a shame to have lost access to what was an admittedly short but fun little cave....

I was getting changed in the Belfry many years ago when a well known female member of the BEC walked in completely starkers except for a pair of wellies. It was certainly difficult to know where to look whilst having a conversation, the subject matter of which I have completely forgotten 😵‍💫

I might be imagining it or have a poor recollection but I'm sure I've been in Valley Entrance in very wet weather and water was flowing down the pitch into the master cave which was backed up to a depth of at least a couple of meters. The streamway below was silent but an absolutely huge volume...

Presumably the stream that can be heard is the Sunset stream heading towards Roaring Hole? Would reopening the connection to Braithwaite Wife Hole make access any easier?
