I guess it's better to assume a pitch is not going to be permanently rigged; from now on if I found a rope on County, I'd assume it was someone elses and there's no guarantee it would be there when i got back; better to rig it again than end up having to free-climb or head out through Wretched...

I must admit, the fixed ropes in County have been really useful over the last couple of years, but I can understand the rationale for asking people to rig their own. I wouldn't see a problem with someone leaving their ropes rigged on a pitch for a number of months, unless it made rigging along...

To the left as you approach the pitch from the roof tunnel, yes; I thought the route off to the right was for rigging a traverse line in flood (or a ladder down to the stream).

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice. The CNCC rigging topo for Small Mammal Pot suggests you can easily descend this pitch and reach the bottom of Bar Pot entrance pitch; however, a number of trip reports suggests that route finding, and the caving, is much more difficult than the topo...

Hey all, I remember reading in an old CNCC rigging guide it said that some routes in Ireby were doable when water levels were high...is this still the case? The only reason I ask, is that I also seem to remember someone mentioning that the water course had changed over the last few years too...

Apologies if this has been brought to people's attention before.... On the short round trip today (Sunday 6th Feb) and definately caught a whiff of some diesel or other fuel - this was near the bottom of the traverse over Blue Pencil going up to the start of the Troubles. Didn't smell too...
