    Daren Drum seals

I'm looking to change the seals on my daren drums. Has anyone got a source for these, or failing that used standard nitrile rubber ones as replacements? If anyone has used rubber o-rings, what size did you use and any problems?

    TopoDroid text scaling issues

I'm just getting to grips with TopoDroid (currently using version 6.2.44-34) When I create passage names, the text stays the same size when I zoom in and out. How can I change this so the text stays the same size relative to my sketch? (i.e. it changes size when I zoom)

    Head torch opinions

Anyone using a zebra light as a back-up? Which model do you use, pro's/con's? Given the choice, would you have opted for a different model?

    TopoDroid drawing

Survey info: - Export:- Then pick your output format e.g. Survex.  I can easily get the centre line and splays but what I'm having trouble with is getting the sketch output into something like Illustrator to do some further work on. Anyone out there with any more info?

    Survex - No 'Process' option

I've had the same problem Sam. I managed to get the process option to appear after associating the notepad file (saved as a .svx file) with editwrap. The problem i now have is that when i hit process, Aven opens up with nothing in it and i don't get the other files (the actual processed ones or...

Paperless sketching gear, both rugged and precise

Happy with a Note 4, and Topodroid is nice to use.  Big problem for me is that it's Therion based and I have trouble working it through the same process i use with Pocket Topo i.e. the Cave Converter, Survex and Illustrator route. Dell Axim and Pocket Topo isn't as smooth to use but the...

    Fixed cave rescue aids

Hi Si, not seen you for a while. How's the finger doing? I'm currently the Underground Leader for UWFRA and as such had a hand in coordinating and caving during the recent callout to Dowber Gill. It was a search for two people who were both found well and escorted out. The in situ aerials did...

    advice for arthritic cavers

For me it is my toe joints that give me the most problems. If this is your area of grief (or part thereof) it might be worth getting in touch with Thomas Arbenz (co-organiser of the Meghalaya trips).  He has had his wellies specially modified with a different sole that supports and greatly...

    Hidden Earth 2012 Burnley

Does anyone have any definite knowledge with regard to camping at HE this year? I have heard rumours varying from the fact that the camping arrangements are half a mile from the venue and you stand a good chance of having everything stolen to the camping is on site with CCTV coverage and you...

    Underground charging devices

Does anyone have much experience of using solar mats for recharging drill batteries and/or re-chargables for hi-output led divelights. I'm thinking of more remote areas - maybe lots of sun areas - were mains charging is not an option and batteries are specialised and not taken in great...

Expedition Insurance - is it worth it?

Les,  that may well be the case but given some of the locations of the caves being explored on expeditions these days, flying in a fully mobilised and ready to hit the ground running rescue team (that could do any good) could well be an impossible task. Trips that involve several days approach...

Expedition Insurance - is it worth it?

I've been looking at companies who provide exped insurance, specifically to some of the more remote areas of the world. Amex have now excluded this type of caving as an option so I looked at Snowcard as an alternative. From their website: "Multi sport ? extreme adventure Down hill MTB (i.e...
