Bilge Pumps

I've had a scan through the past posts, it seems the 'Whale Gusher' is a popular range.

Has anyone had much experience with the cheap end of the market? I have an Amazon voucher burning a hole...

It only has to clear a large puddle at a dig face really, minimal height difference (1m?) to the drain from memory.

If the puddle really isn't that big you could use one of those small pumps that attach to garden hose fittings and fit in the chuck of a cordless drill.

Whale gushers are excellent - provided the location isn't cramped (causing frequently skinned knuckles and donged elbows, with all the associated swearing.)

The Earby Pothole Club knows a thing or two about pumping water  . . .

Getting a drill there dry could be an issue as it's flat out, head to the side puddle-shuffling on the way in.
I don't currently have access to a large Pelicase.

I'd thought about the drill pump route, but figured something more low tech might be better suited.

Option 1 is currently looking most appealing due to its size and the fact the the photos show the inlet and outlet so pipe attachment is less of a concern.

Your second option, the Manual Hand Bilge pump will work well but will leave a small puddle when the water doesn't cover the inlet tube. It will be much easier to use in a low passage, put it on a board. These will suck every drop if you need it to:

Every drop isn't an issue, it'll just be dug out once it's slop anyway.

I had a kayak bilge pump similar to your number 1. It worked well initially, but rapidly failed as silt and grit destroyed the seals and frequently jammed it up.

Your number 3 looks like an inflation pump designed to pump air. I don't think it would cope well with water.

I'd probably buy the gusher type if I went back to my pumping and syphoning project.

Have a look at 'Water Buster' they make battery operated pumps for boats and kayaks.

we use option 2 as a  syphon in oha and it is really efficient
