Clydach Gorge geological walk on 15th October

Cambrian Caving Council brings you another of the very popular geology walks with Alan Bowring, BBNPA’s geology expert (and ex-ULSA caver).
Sunday 15 October 2023, 10.30am - mid afternoon
A circular walk of 7km / 4.25 miles (and 300m / 1000ft of ascent) exploring aspects of this distinctive caving area. On a mix of old tramroads, railways, footpaths and quiet roads we’ll look at the influence of geology on the development of a variety of caves in the area between Blackrock and Clydach.
Though we’ll not be entering any caves, participants should bring a headtorch and a hand lens along with a picnic lunch, drinks and suitable protection against the weather.
Ensure you have sturdy footwear as some of the paths are rough, muddy and potentially slippery.

The walk is limited to 12 places. To reserve a place please book with Richard Hill, CCC Training Officer who will pass on details to Alan

Hopefully there will be a good mix of people from those who know the area to those who are blissfully ignorant of it - a good recipe for passing knowledge and ideas around...

I understand that all places have now been filled, but there is a reserve list and it would not hurt to register your interest if you have missed out so that future demand can be assessed.

Another walk is being planned for the spring to the contrasting Black Mountain area between Herbert's Quarry and the Twrch.
