Croesor Rhosydd - Boat is stuck

Went down croesor yesterday, got up to surface late last night. Canoe is now rigged with a haul rope at either end, and runs along a tensioned line. Shouldnt snag on anything, though it wouldnt be a bad idea if someone wanted to go take a hacksaw or angle grinder to that bit of cable that hangs down into the water. To pull the canoe across from rhosydd end to croesor, simply haul on the blue drawcord that is passed over the pulley thats mounted to the ceiling, likewise there is a blue draw cord going to the rhosydd end to drag it the other way if needed (attached at regular Intervals to the tensioned line to prevent tangles). Failed to get any useful images of the haul system but here are a few pictures of us having fun. Also dragged out approximately two metric shitloads of rubbish, comprising 4 knackered inflatables (one of which someone had tried to burn???) and the sack of old draw cord and general detritus that you can see in one of the photos. If anyone fancies a job, theres still around 3-4 inflatables on the rhosydd side that could do with being dragged out.

Fantastic work! Thank you.

Hopefully now the canoe route is fixed, in future these inflatables will now stay in punters rucksacks and continue on their journey homewards?

Is there merit in leaving one or two choice inflatables on the Rhosydd side in case of future events like the last callout?

Surely on the Croesor end would make most sense? Either way, I'm fairly confident that some knob would sit on one causing a piece of sharp slate to go through it wherever you left it - the canoe has the advantage of not being so susceptible to that

If you let me know how long the steel cable needs to be I’ll see what I can do 👍
Apologies its taken so long but we have finally gotten round to measuring the old knackered haul line that we brought out from croesor a few weeks back. It is 40m in length, though it did not quite reach the full span, and thus we think the length of line we installed was approx 45m. Either this needs verifying with a disto before trying to install a steel cable, or you'll need a few metres spare to account for the horrific innaccuracies of our measurements. Note that in order to install a cable, a couple of bolts will need to be added, as we just tied the line we installed off to whatever shite was already there

That's good to hear, it deffo needs a cable. Currently rigged with draw cord, we were trying to get hold of a knackered static rope but never managed to, so yea any improvement on that is much needed tbh, but at least it works in the short term
