A Leicestershire Scouts Caving Leaders Team Building Trip
A.K.A. Half of us had our passports stamped for the day so we had to go somewhere
Usual meet up at the Morrisons in Chesterfield for a fryup before the cave.
We found the crawl towards Telescope Aven to be a bit boring (tight!) and reversed back down the passage in an act of the utmost brave whimping! This turned out to be a good choice as we had ended up pushing the inlet from the Smoke Room for further than I had been before - I completely missed the passage to Alexanders Aven It's been at least 8 years and many trips later, but I should have remembered!
I took our young apprentice leader on a tour of our various old LPCC dig sites and found footprints disappearing under a large pile of boulders in one of them (gulp)
I remembered why I had only done the through trip 3 times, although I had visited the entrances dozens of times (it was the LPCC adopted cave) - with my long legs two of the aukward sections in Nervous Breakdown are a real struggle.
The entrances were full of flying insects; a real pain for us as they seemed attracted by our lights, but at least they fed the two frogs in the lower entrance.
At the end of the summer when the insects are gone should someone remove the frogs so they stand a chance of survival on the surface :?:
A good trip and still home in time for the Dr. Who repeat!
