As you may or may not know, i am going to organise a spectacular weekend of cavefest type jollies on Gower in July ( exact dates escape me right now so theres a good start for you. ) I've heard that there is a lot of interest in this weekend but, what i want to know is, who is it that is interested?
It'll be a camping weekend and I want to book a site called Bank farm as not only is it the most best situated place on the South side of the peninsular with spectacular veiws across the sea, but it has also got all the facillities a good camping weekend needs such as flat fields, clean loo's, a fish and chip shop and very importantly- a tv room...it's also right in the heart of the caving bits, has good easy walking to the beach and the pubs and has loads of fields so that we can probably get a quiet spot to ourselves and not be bothered by other campers anti- social and quite often disgustingly drunken behaviour. I expect this will be especially appreciated when we need to get an early night. Another reason for going to Bank Farm is that I like it and seeing as i'm organising it then i'm going to get what I like, so there!
For those of you who have visited Gower before, you can appreciate that it's outstanding natural beauty attracts many visitors, and for those of you who have never visited before, let me tell you, it's outstanding natural beauty attracts many visitors and being a small place, with not many camping sites, 4 or 5 in this particular spot i think, it tends to fill up pretty quickly. So it is very IMPORTANT and i stress IMPORTANT in big black letters, that we book early enough.
Yes, i know it is not the usual caver ideology to book things in advance and to be prepared for all eventualities and indeed there is a quaint and often pleasantly un-nerving thrill about dashing off at the last minute to get in some good caving. Now, some of you ( A. Sparrow ) may already be groaning at the though of having to be, God forbid " organised" by someone ( me ) but trust me on this one, as i obviously know what i'm talking about.
Anyhow, like i said, what i want to know is, who is interested so that i have some idea of numbers for the booking...i reckon you have untill the begining of May to make your minds up on this one but i will confirm this with the site manager and let you know.
I'll also post more details of the weekend, such as the actual caving stuff when i know them but you can always get in touch with me if you've any questions in the mean time.
One more thing, hard as i find this to believe, not everyone has the internet! so, whoever reads this might like to tell those poor unfortunates without a connection all about it.
