Great to see so many super enthusiastic cavers from York uni. The freshers fair on Saturday got over 200 mailing list sign-ups and 20 odd who paid up right away! All 15 people who wanted to come on the Sunday caving trip turned up on time and were very keen! I think everyone enjoyed the trip down Long Churn and we managed to get most down Dolly Tubs to look at the lovely view into Alum.
I think we overwhelmed Inglesport a bit when we turned up with 30 people but they coped very well!
For the first time this year we had people abseiling (with a lifeline) down the pitch and coming back up via a ladder which was a much more efficient system than sending everyone down a ladder. Despite some nerves at the top of the pitch, everyone got on with it and did really well.
Its a good feeling that their is still lots of younger folk interested in getting into caving
